For business owners
If Old Soldier called you, a specific buyer asked us to.
This page exists so you can check who we are before you decide whether to talk to us. Old Soldier is a buy-side origination firm in Luther, Montana that runs acquisition searches for buyers. We do not represent sellers, we do not charge owners anything, and one reply is enough to stop us from calling again.
How to verify the call was really from us
Every Old Soldier contact comes from a named member of our team, using the contact details below. Today that is Brad Barker. This page is updated the day anyone else is added. If a call, email or message about your company used any other name, number or address, it was not from us.
- Named callers
- Brad Barker, founder and managing director
- Phone
- 307-690-7536. A long-held personal number: the area code is Wyoming, the office is Montana.
- barker@oldsoldier.org, and only that domain
- Office
- Old Soldier LLC, Luther, Montana

Not sure? Hang up or do not reply, and call the number above yourself. We will answer or call you back the same business day.
What we will never ask you for
Old Soldier never asks an owner for money, a deposit, a fee, bank account details, a password, a one-time code, a Social Security number, or remote access to a computer. If someone claiming to be from Old Soldier asks for any of these, it is fraud. Please tell us at the email above so we can warn others.
If a secure document exchange is needed, we arrange it with you in advance. We never ask you to share your password or verification code with us.
Owners pay nothing. Our client, the buyer, pays our fees. There is no cost to you at any point, including at closing.
Who we are
Old Soldier is a buy-side origination firm. A private equity fund, a family office or a strategic buyer hires us to find companies like yours, in writing, before we make a single call. We contact a company only when that client has looked at the market and named it.
We do not represent sellers, we do not list businesses for sale, we do not raise money, and we do not give valuation, legal, accounting or tax advice.
We normally identify the buyer in our first contact. When a client needs initial confidentiality, we explain that upfront and identify the buyer before arranging an introduction.
What happens if you take the call
Exploratory first, handled discreetly throughout, and you set the pace.
- First call. Fifteen to thirty minutes, two questions: whether you would consider a partner or a buyer at any point, and roughly what your company does and how big it is. Nothing you say is shared with anyone but the named client.
- If you say yes. We tell you why the buyer asked about your company, and if we have not already named them, who they are. If you want an NDA before anything else is said, we coordinate the buyer-approved NDA between you and the buyer first, and you can have your own advisor review it. Plenty of owners are comfortable discussing revenue and earnings without one. That is your call to make, not a hoop we make you jump through.
- What you share. You share what you choose, when you choose, and nothing reaches the buyer that you have not agreed to send. Old Soldier never requests originals, never asks for system access, and never contacts your customers or lenders.
- Introduction. A conversation with the buyer, arranged by us, then a visit if both sides want one. Most of our clients prefer a partnership with the current owners and management over a walk-away sale; tell us what you want and we will tell you whether this buyer fits.
- Any time, you can stop. One reply, in any form, and we close the file. We record the request and we do not call again, for this buyer or any other, unless you contact us.
Your information
- Calls are not recorded. We take written notes during and after a conversation. If that ever changes you will be told at the start of the call and asked to agree.
- What we hold before we call: what is public about your company, such as its website, state filings, trade associations and news, and the contact details for its owners or officers from public and commercial business directories.
- What we add after we talk: the notes from the conversation, your answers to the two questions, and anything you choose to share. These go into a private deal room that only the named client and Old Soldier can open.
- Who sees it: the one client whose mandate named your company. Your information is never shared with other buyers or used for a different client's search without your consent. Your information is never pooled or sold.
Questions, corrections, or "please stop"
Write to us directly. A request to stop contact is honored the same day it is received, and confirmed in writing.
